David Jones died aged 73 after a short illness earlier this month.

Mr Jones was a respected traveller who lived across Midlands and known for his love of horses and food.

His funeral took place at St Michael's Church in Lichfield last Tuesday attended by a huge congregation from the gypsy community with mourners coming from as far as America to pay their respects.

He was married to Mary for 55 years and had 12 children and 32 grandchildren.

His son Jamie, from Penkridge, said: "He was a proud husband who loved his wife and his family so much.

"As a father and grandfather he was one in a million and loved by people all over the world.

"He was known for always having a full table of food and gave food to everyone. He was known as the King of the Gipsies for his food.

"He was very well respected and known for his horses, Irish horses, and received trophies from the Royal family at shows.

"He will be sorely missed."
