Cannock Chase fracking ban call gathers pace
A petition calling for fracking to be banned on Cannock Chase has drummed up more than 1,700 signatures in a matter of days.

Cannock Chase Green Party fear the Government has paved the way for the controversial form of gas extraction at the beauty spot by giving the green light for fracking underneath national parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Local party co-ordinator Paul Woodhead said he launched the petition to generate interest in the issue at an early stage so if a decision to drill on the Chase was made in the future, council bosses would be well aware of local feeling.
"I am not saying a decision is going to be made on this tomorrow, but at this stage it is about making people aware," he said.
