They are an opportunity for pupils to take centre stage and show off their acting skills – and will provide lifelong memories for proud families.

We have been inundated with pictures from schools across the region, showing proud pupils donning their best outfits for the much-anticipated annual production.

The response from schools has been fantastic, with a huge range of photos from group shots to close-ups of the stars of the show.

Over the following pages, we have collected the best of the images that prove the tradition is still alive and well. But it was not all about the typical nativity – Kinver High School even submitted a photo of its annual production of Blood Brothers.

From little angels in their tinsel-laden dresses, to the donkey, Mary and Joseph and the Three Wise Men, hundreds of pupils took their roles on stage in front of parents beaming with pride.

Among the highlights were the five little lambs at St Paul's CofE Primary in Tipton, with their sheep costumes prompting plenty of 'aahs' from parents.

And the pupils of St Mary's Catholic School in Brewood even donned colourful wigs for their show.

But the 12 pages of photos full of happy children show schools in our region are still dedicated to putting on the best productions they can.

The images show the huge effort that goes into the nativity productions, with teachers and parents spending weeks perfecting the outfits and scenery. And it seems the little ones have done their parents proud, with headteachers saying their productions have been a huge success.

And many are eagerly waiting to to take to the stage this week after weeks of rehearsals.

We would like to thank every school that took part, and wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Editor Keith Harrison has sifted through all the entries and chosen his favourite.
