Leroy Sterling, aged 52, of West Bromwich, is accused of killing 26-year-old Wendy Mann in August this year.

Her body was found in the kitchen of her house in Chapel Street. A post-mortem revealed she had died from asphyxiation.

Sterling has been remanded in custody until the next hearing at Wolverhampton Crown Court in February.

He first appeared at Sandwell Magistrates Court earlier this week.

A murder charge against Trevor Tyndale in relation to the case has been dropped, the Crown Prosecution Service said.

Spokesman Vinny Bolina said: "Following receipt of further evidence, a decision was made to discontinue the murder charge against Trevor Tyndale."
