Mr Power, 54, who owned the Ramada Park Hall Hotel in Goldthorn Park, Wolverhampton, was last seen at an airport in Amritsar on May 8.

An Indian taxi driver was charged with his murder after police said he had confessed to the killing.

A body was found that was identified as Mr Power by his close friend, but when it arrived back in the UK it was found that dental records and DNA did not match the family's samples.

Speaking on the Jeremy Vine show on BBC Radio 2, Gian Power said: "There was quite a time delay from the body being discovered to it being sent back to the UK.

When asked if he thought his father's body had been correctly identified but the wrong one sent back to the UK, Gian said: "There is a question.

"There has been a lot of confusion. My dad's close friend who sees him every day, you would expect him to identify his body.

"He was convinced it was my father. There is a lot of pieces to the puzzle that need to be found.

"I was under the impression that we would see our father when I heard the body had been found. But weeks later we were told we couldn't have the funeral."

The body remains in the custody of the Black Country Coroners Office while investigations continue.

Gian added that he remained confident that police in India would were committed to solving the case.

"The police in Punjab are dedicated to getting to the bottom of this. They are not stopping their investigations and will continue.

"My dad was a UK citizen and a non-resident of India, so it is limited what West Midlands Police can do here."
