Official complaints have been lodged with the Health and Safety Executive by neighbours of the player who say their privacy has been 'destroyed' due to a number of large trees being chopped down at his Warwickshire home.

One neighbour said the work had put their home in danger, while another said Gardner had 'caused devastation by ripping out a 40ft tree'.

The midfielder, who has also played for Aston Villa and Birmingham, is thought to be extending his home in Fillongley.

A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive say they have been made aware of the situation and are making further inquiries.
