Apartments plan for former Wolverhampton Bulls Head pub

The site of a former Wolverhampton pub at a gateway to the city will be turned into new apartments under plans.

The Bull's Head in Millfields Road was knocked down in 2011 after becoming a target for vandals and fly-tippers following its closure.

Plans have been submitted to Wolverhampton council that would see the site turned into a residential development with 13 apartments and car parking space.

A statement attached to the planning application reads: "This development not only provides attractive and affordable housing, but also improves the local area by removing a disused, unattractive and uninviting eyesore and blotch of a key route into the city.

"This site accommodated a public house that at one time was a thriving business, even more so given its location in a semi industrial and residential area.

"At the turn of the century, like the vast majority of public houses, The Bull's Head changed hands several times and lost many customers over the years to come until such time when it was no longer profitable to run such a business and with that, time was called on this public house.

"A spate of break inns later a fire ultimately sealed the fate of this pubic house and it was eventually sold in 2007."
