Walsall industrial unit blaze was arson

[gallery] A blaze that gutted an industrial unit in Walsall and was battled by up to 30 firefighters was arson, it has been confirmed.

West Midlands Police has now launched an investigation into the blaze which happened in Willenhall Lane, Bloxwich, during the early hours of Sunday.

Flames leapt 40ft into the air from the single-storey business when the first crews arrived at Die Cutting Formes at around 2.40am.

The unit was gutted and a specially-trained dog was called in by fire investigation experts trying to pinpoint the cause of the blaze.

West Midlands Police spokeswoman Deb Edmunds said: "It has been confirmed as arson. "We are in the early stages of investigation. We are trying to see if there is any CCTV to see if it shows any of the offenders."
