Tributes paid to tragic biker, 18, killed in crash

A teenage motorcyclist who died in a crash in Smethwick was due to celebrate the religious festival of Eid with his family later in the day.

Sandwell College student Suhail Yousaf, aged 18, who was from Oldbury, died after his bike hit a lamppost on Saturday.

Tributes have been paid to the teenager and dozens of floral tributes left at the scene of the crash at the junction of Alma Street and Tollhouse Way.

Suhail was today described as a biking enthusiast who would do anything for his friends.

Best friend Assam Ali, aged 19, who had been with the victim just 10 minutes before the crash, said: "He was a biking enthusiast as long as I knew him. Whenever he got the chance to ride his bike he was on it, that was his passion.

"I'm upset he has gone but he died doing what he loved. He was a wicked-hearted lad. I didn't have a bad word to say about him."

Mr Ali said Suhail was due to join his friends and family in Eid celebrations later on Saturday before the tragedy happened at around 1.40pm.

Police are investigating the crash.
