Stolen Audi crashes after police chase

A stolen car was chased through the streets of Stourbridge and Wordsley by police before it crashed into railings.

The stolen Audi A4 convertible came to the attention of the police after being recognised by the Automatic Number Plate Recognition system between junctions three and four of the M5 at 9.15am on Sunday.

The driver failed to stop for officers and was chased through the streets of Hagley and Stourbridge before hitting railings and losing control of the vehicle in Church Street, Wordsley.

The suspect managed to get away after getting out of the car and fleeing from the scene. West Midlands Police said inquiries to trace him were ongoing.

The stolen Audi, which was left badly damaged following the smash, was seized for forensic examination.
