Plans to transform The Claregate in Codsall Road into a new care home were being revealed today at Christ the King Church from 12pm until 2pm.

It has been organised by Crown Care, which is are looking to create a 'high quality development' on the site which could create up to 100 jobs.

But organisers of the Save Our Claregate campaign say the timing of the consultation event is not ideal to many people.

Mark Hewitt from the campaign group said: "People are upset with the timing of this consultation event.

"A lot of people are at work at that time and are unable to get down to see it because of work commitments and so on.

"It is not much a public consultation if it is on at a time when many can't make it. We would much rather it be in the evening."

A representative from Crown Care was unavailable to comment.

The pub was regularly used by Wolves legend Billy Wright when he was in digs in nearby Burland Avenue in the 1950s.
