Islam exhibition planned for Dudley to dispel myths

Dudley Central Mosque is hosting an exhibition to dispel myths around Islam in the wake of a plans for a controversial far right protest.

Officials are holding the Exhibition Islam event at Dudley Town Hall, in St James' Road, tomorrow and Saturday.

The exhibition, which has toured internationally, is free to enter and is open from 9am to 7pm tomorrow and 9am to 6pm on Saturday.

Mosque leaders say the event is interactive and educational and aims to promote and 'foster better understandings between communities, dispel myths and breakdown cultural and religious barriers'.

It comes as a group called All Football fans/Firms March Against Islamisation are planning to protest in Dudley on June 13.

The march would be the third far right march coming to Dudley this year over the plans to build a new mosque in the town.

Dudley Mosque chairman, Mohammed Aurangzeb said: "This innovative and aspiring exhibition is coming to Dudley for the first time and we are truly excited.

"We hope it will help to further our friendship, understanding, cultural and religious awareness. We look forward to increased engagement and understanding with local people."

Guests representing other faiths from the area have been invited including the Bishop of Dudley Rt Revd Graham Usher.
