Tributes to tragic young footballer Amar

A football club has paid tribute to one of its young players who was killed in a car crash.

Schoolboy Amar Atwal, aged 12, died two days after the crash on Hollyhedge Road, West Bromwich, which happened on Wednesday.

Two of his relatives, a 44-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy, were also hurt and remain in hospital.

Amar, a young footballer from Great Barr who played for Willenhall-based Sporting Khalsa FC, died after being thrown from the Mitsubishi Outlander, which ended up on its roof after the collision with a Vauxhall Astra.

Officials at Sporting Khalsa said they were devastated after learning of Amar's death.

The club tweeted: "Devastating news to hear that one of our youth players died yesterday. #amaratwal God bless your soul."

An investigation into the crash is continuing.
