The 69-year-old from the Hatherton area was targeted in the fraud, prompting a warning from officers about bogus callers.

The victim was contacted by phone with a trickster claiming he was a police officer and had arrested someone in possession of two cloned bank cards with his details.

Believing he had ended the call the man then contacted what he thought was his bank, following the advice given over the phone.

However, he instead provided a number of personal details, including bank card PIN numbers, to an offender who had remained on the line.

Around 45 minutes later a male 'courier' called at the victim's address to collect two bank cards which were used to withdraw money from various cash machines.

Walsall Police engagement and consultation officer, Kevin Pitt, said it was vital residents were on their guard against these bogus telephone callers.
