Busy Wolverhampton road closed after two-car smash

A busy Wolverhampton road was closed for more than two hours this morning after a two car smash.

The A449 Penn Road was shut at the junction with Vicarage Road near The Hollybush pub heading out of the city following the crash at 8.20am.

Paramedics treated a man and a woman at the scene for minor injuries. They were both released without requiring hospital treatment.

Debris lay strewn across the road following the collision between a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a white Peugeot Feline Mistral.

There was extensive damage to the front ends of both vehicles. Police are investigating how the smash occurred.

Diversions were in place down Hollybush Lane while police cleared the scene.

The road re-opened at around 10.10am.
