Musical acts, from blues bands to hip hop artists, performed on stage at Kidderminster Town Hall in memory of Sandra Nowocinska, who died following a fire at her flat in the town.

Ms Nowocinska was rescued from the burning building in December but died in hospital four days later. Her five-year-old son survived.

Kidderminster-based singer Freddi Smart organised the music event.

She said: "As a performer myself I thought what a fantastic way to raise money. There are a lot of fantastic musicians and artists in Kidderminster.

"And it was fantastic, absolutely brilliant.

"All the acts were brilliant and they stayed the whole night to support each other. There was a great atmosphere."

Wyre Forest District Council Councillor Fran Oborski said: "I'm really grateful to the district council for letting us use the town hall and I'm really grateful to Freddi and all the local groups who came forward.

"What happened was absolutely awful but it's wonderful the way the town has come together.

"People from the whole community wanted to support Sandra's family, particularly Nico and Fabian."

More than £1,000 was raised from the concert, which will be donated to Ms Nowocinska's family.

A 42-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fire. He was released on bail while police continue their investigation.
