Pheasey Park Farm Primary School and Children's Centre, in Pheasey, is the largest primary in the borough with 634 on roll.

An Ofsted recent monitoring report found that the Wimperis Way school was making the required improvements in teaching.

The report stated that lessons continue to get better and teachers are implementing the school's policies more consistently.

Guidance to pupils on how to improve their work is more precise and helpful.

Governors have benefitted from training and are asking questions that are more searching.

The presentation of pupils' work is improving.

The report stated: "Teaching continues to improve. Teachers have begun to benefit from participating in the outstanding teaching programme. Teachers follow school policies more consistently. Teachers are implementing the writing policy and model cursive handwriting. This is helping pupils improve the presentation of their work."

Last month's Key Stage Two SAT league tables also highlighted how the school was also making progress. Of the 93, 11-year-olds that took the standard assessments tests 73 per cent attained level four in reading, writing and maths.

Head Sally Lanni praised staff, governors and parents for their support and hard work.

"I am delighted with the progress we have made at the school. It is very rewarding to know that we have been recognised as a rapidly improving school. Our teaching and achievement have made massive leaps forward and are continuing to do so," Mrs Lanni said.

Along with academic successes the school has enjoyed success in music and sport across the whole of Walsall.

The site was also recently paid a visit by Walsall's executive director of children's services David Haley.
