Wolverhampton bus raider pleads guilty

A man has pleaded guilty to a series of smash-and-grab thefts from buses in Wolverhampton.

Shaun McNay, aged 35 of Hurstbourne Crescent, East Park, appeared before city magistrates yesterday (December 11).

He was charged with the thefts from five buses over a six-day period between November 18 and 24.

Cash boxes were levered from their brackets using a metal bar while the vehicles were parked in School Road, Tettenhall, the bus park in Broadlands, Patshull Avenue, Fordhouses and Codsall.

McNay, who is co-accused along with electrician Ryan Jones, 34, was identified by police from onboard CCTV images.

The case was adjourned for pre-sentence reports to be completed.
