Councillor Jas Dehar said the project will improve Phoenix Park and parts of Blakenhall in Wolverhampton.

She said: “As the councillor for Blakenhall ward I wanted to give something back to the community.

“I have seen a lot of elderly people sitting at the front entrance of Phoenix Park, it’s overgrown and I want to bring it alive and plant some flowers and plants.

“They will be able to go from Phoenix Street and they can sit around flowers. We’ve got quite a few community groups who are going to get involved in it.

“Right at the front there will be lots of flowers, and Cherry Blossom trees there and on Dudley Road as that’s used by many people in Wolverhampton.

“I’m going to use some of my ward fund to get a table too so they can sit down, I’m trying to get some funds from other places as well.

“I want to get started in September, I want to make it a better place for the residents and the people of Blakenhall.

“I have been working on this project for six months now with the council, and they have agreed.”
