Driver cut from car and taken to hospital after Walsall crash with lorry

A driver was cut from his car and taken to hospital after a crash with a lorry in Walsall.

The car and the lorry crashed at the junction of the Black Country Route and Marshland Way at about 3.45pm yesterday.

Four patients were assessed by the ambulance service and the driver of the car was treated at the scene by paramedics for injuries not believed to be serious and taken to Walsall Manor Hospital.

Claire Brown, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called to reports of an RTC involving a car and a lorry at the junction of the Black Country Route and Marshland Way, Walsall, at 3.44pm yesterday.

"An ambulance and a paramedic officer attended. Four patients were assessed on scene.

"The driver of the car, a man, was extricated with help from the fire service and was treated on scene by ambulance staff for injuries not believed to be serious. He was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital for further checks.

"Two passengers from the car were assessed and had sustained minor injuries but didn’t require hospital treatment. The lorry driver, a man, was discharged on scene."
