Man's body found in car in Smethwick

A man's body has been found in a car in the Black Country.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene in Wellington Road, Smethwick, at about 11.15am today and found the body of a man, thought to be in his 30s.

His death is not being treated as suspicious, West Midlands Police said.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to Wellington Road, Smethwick, following the discovery of a man’s body in a car just before 11.30am today .

"A man, thought to be in his 30s, was sadly found deceased. The death is not currently being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed."

Claire Brown, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called following concerns for the welfare of a patient in a car on Wellington Road, Smethwick at 11.12am.

"Two ambulances, HART paramedics and two paramedic officers were sent to the scene.

"Sadly, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save the patient, a man, and he was confirmed deceased by ambulance staff on scene."
