Woman seriously injured in M5 lorry crash
A woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a car and lorry crashed on the M5 in the Black Country.
The collision happened at about 9.15am today on the M5 southbound between Junctions 2 and 3, for Oldbury and Halesowen.
The driver of the car, a woman, was taken to hospital.
Spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service Neil Spencer said one person was trapped on arrival, and a vehicle involved was "smoking".
The crash is causing a backlog of traffic on the M5, and firefighters are urging motorists to "drive carefully".
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, Jordan Egginton, said paramedics treated a woman, who was the driver of the car, for serious injuries. She has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.
West Midlands Police have been contacted.
