The crash is causing a backlog of traffic on the M5, and firefighters are urging motorists to "drive carefully".

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, Jordan Egginton, said paramedics treated a woman, who was the driver of the car, for serious injuries. She has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.

West Midlands Police have been contacted.
