Neville Harrison won £30,000 thanks to his lucky post code

B14 6PT was announced as a winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on Saturday, bringing a total of £150,000 to the street.

Neville Harrison, 72, discovered how much he’d won on a video call with lottery ambassador Judie McCourt.

Seeing his prize, Neville said: “Oh my God, Jesus Christ almighty. That is amazing, absolutely amazing. I never thought that would happen. You’ve brought me to tears.”

Neville, a retired plumbing and heating engineer, thought it was a joke when he first received a call from Postcode Lottery.

He said: “I thought it was a wind up to be honest, I thought it was a pal of mine having me on. I’m gobsmacked, it’s got me quite emotional.”

Asked how he’d spend his windfall, Neville said: “I’ll probably get my son and daughter something, but I might keep it a secret because they’ll be tapping my shoulder asking me to open my wallet.

“I’d love to book a holiday to Greece too, in a big five-star hotel. But we’ve got some friends in Canada, so I might book a flight when we can and surprise them at their door.”

Neville plans to celebrate his good fortune with his wife Linda.

He said: “It’s a pity I can’t take the family for a big slap-up meal just now but I’ll have a nice big glass of Courvoisier tonight.”

The remaining winners chose to remain anonymous but their prize will be paid into their bank accounts.

Judie McCourt, People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, added: “Good news is in short supply just now so it was my pleasure to deliver some to Neville.

"I’m chuffed for him and our other lucky players in Birmingham. I hope they enjoy their prize!”
