A 1,600-name petition protesting about 150ft high wind turbines close to four villages near Eccleshall has been handed to council chiefs.

Aspley Enterprises is hoping to site two 50 KWp turbines on high ground in the vicinity of Slindon, also affecting the nearby villages of Brockton, Sugnall and Standon, situated north-west of Stafford.

Protesters say the turbines, to be sited on a hillock, would ruin the local skyline and hit tourism.

Several businesses say they are dependent on visitors and worried about the effect the proposed wind turbines would have on their trade.

Hundreds of visitors have also signed the petition.
