Man injured after milk float overturns during crash

A man has escaped with only minor injuries after a milk float overturned in the road during a crash.

The incident took place at around 7.47am today on Lichfield Road in the New Invention area of Willenhall.

Crews from Willenhall and Bloxwich attended the scene.

A total of ten firefighters worked to free the man who suffered minor injuries.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said: "We received reports of an incident involving a milkfloat overturned in the roadway.

"One male was trapped and had to be extracted by fire service personnel using rescue equipment.

"The male suffered minor injuries.

"Crews also used environmental grab packs as there was milk spillage on the road."

The crash involving the float, which had Johal Dairies livery, forced the road to be partially blocked for around a hour.

The service also confirmed that police and the ambulance service were also in attendance.

Tweeting about the incident, West Midlands Fire Service said: "Crews from @WillenhallFire & @bloxwichfire attending RTC involving a milk float that has overturned. 1 person trapped by injuries."

Bloxwich Fire Station crews added: "RTC at the jnct of Lichfield Road and Cannock Road. Incident closed and road reopen. Be careful when the roads are wet."

Crews left the scene at 8.58am.
