Drivers caught up in delays after crashes on M54

Drivers were caught up in delays in this morning after two crashes on the M54.

Four vehicles were involved in a crash on the eastbound carriageway between Junction 5 and 6 at about 8.30am.

Two fire engines including the rescue tender were sent from Telford Central and Wellington.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The incident involved four vehicles. No people were trapped and there were two walking wounded."

Another accident on the M54 an hour earlier blocked one lane eastbound between junction three for Albrighton and junction two for Wolverhampton, with traffic stretching back to Shifnal.

Another crash involving three cars caused delays on the eastbound A5 heading to the M54 between Preston Boats Roundabout in Shrewsbury and Wellington, with queues from Emstrey Roundabout.

Two fire engines from Shrewsbury and Telford were sent to the collision at about 8.15am.
