Woman taken to hospital after Mini crashes into post in Wolverhampton

A woman was taken to hospital with hip, back and neck pain after her car ploughed into a lamppost in Wolverhampton today.

The crash involved a black Mini and happened at around 9.11am at Perton Brook Vale, Wolverhampton, close to Wightwick Bank.

The 37-year-old female driver of the car had to be freed by fire crews and was taken by ambulance to New Cross Hospital after complaining of back, hip and neck pain.

West Midlands Fire Service confirmed it sent two appliances and eight fire fighters who used cutting equipment to free the woman.

Fire crews leaped into action within one minute of the call to the control room, were on scene by 9.28am and left just after 10am.
