Man seriously injured after being hit by bike in Cannock

A man was seriously injured when he was hit by a motorbike in Cannock.

The man was today said to be in a stable condition after the crash happened on Monday evening as he was walking along John Street, Chadsmoor.

The pedestrian, a local man in his mid 30s, was hit by a silver grey Yamaha motorbike near to The Nest pub at around 6.20pm and was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

His condition was this afternoon described as stable by police.

The driver of the motorbike, an 18-year-old man also from Cannock, suffered minor injuries to his head and back and was taken to Wolverhampton's New Cross Hospital as a precaution.

Staffordshire Police thanked the public for their patience during the road closures and urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
