Wolverhampton house fire tackled after wrecking building materials

Firefighters battled a house blaze in Wolverhampton which left rooms damaged.

Two crews were called out to the empty property on Dudley Road, Blakenhall, at 10.16pm, last night.

West Midlands Fire Service confirmed the home is being renovated and the blaze involved building material including wood and plastic on the first floor.

The building was left heavily smoke logged while pictures released by the fire service showed the walls, floors and a door had been badly burnt.

No cause has been stated at this stage.

Wolverhampton Fire Tweeted: "Red watch Wolverhampton in attendance at a house fire....quick assertive firefighting prevented rapid fire spread."
