Arrest after stolen HGV pursued by police in Walsall

A man has been arrested in Walsall after police pursued a stolen HGV pulling a trailer full of alcohol.

It crashed in Bell Lane and the 37 year old was arrested nearby on suspicion of theft and dangerous driving. He remains in custody.

The lorry had been taken from a compound in Shenstone. A second HGV loaded with toys was also taken. That was found abandoned not far from the compound.

Sergeant Kevin Royce said: "This incident highlights the quick thinking and co-ordination of officers by our Area Control Room. Thanks to the excellent team work an arrest was made within 20 minutes of the theft occurring and all the stolen property was recovered."
