Woman dies following two-car crash in Aldridge

A woman has died and another was taken to hospital after two cars crashed at a busy junction in Aldridge.

The crash happened at the junction of Stubbers Green Road and Wharf Approach at around 7am today.

Paramedics worked to treat a women, believed to have been driving one of the cars involved.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said the woman was in a very serious condition at the scene.

She was taken by ambulance for treatment at hospital.

But the crew met a doctor en route travelling in the Mellish Road area.

He helped give advanced care and treatment but Mr McGregor confirmed she died before she reached hospital.

The driver of the other car, a 58-year-old woman, was complaining of right sided pain and was disorientated.

After treatment at the scene, she was taken to Walsall Manor Hospital for further assessment and treatment.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "A woman has been confirmed dead and officers are in the process of informing her family."
