Man charged with drink driving after Jaguar smashes into wall

A man has been charged with drink driving after a Jaguar crashed into a wall in Stourbridge.

The dark blue sports car smashed into the wall opposite the Crabmill Pub on Hagley Road in Stourbridge at 11.20pm last night.

Pictures taken at the scene showed a crumpled bumper and bricks left scattered over the pavement.

Ten firefighters in two engines from Brierley Hill and Stourbridge were sent to the scene at 11.15pm.

The road was reduced to one lane while crews dealt with the incident.

Neil Spencer, spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service, said: "Nobody was trapped or injured and our crews made the vehicle and surrounding area safe."

Dudley Council were called to attend the scene as live cables from the street lamp were exposed.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said that they were also called to the crash at 11.20pm but did not attend the scene as they were told they weren't needed on route.

  • Thomas Shakespeare, aged 25, of Miller Lane, Wombourne, has been charged with drink driving.
