Train driver assaulted on London Midland service from Wolverhampton to Walsall

A train driver was assaulted by a passenger during a commuter service from Wolverhampton to Walsall today.

The train was stopped for almost 30 minutes as British Transport Police were called to the scene at around 8.40am.

The incident happened on the 7.50am London Midland service.

The train was stopped at Duddeston train station to allow police on board.

London Midland tweeted to confirm that 15 minutes delays remained on the line following the 'disturbance'.

British Transport Police spokesman Sarah Buxton said: "On arrival at the scene, officers found the driver was uninjured and no official complaint was received.

"An 18-year-old man admitted assaulting the driver and, after consulting with all parties concerned, the matter was dealt with by way of a community resolution."
