Electricity cable cut near Walsall bridge

Emergency services were called to Walsall this morning after an electrical cable was cut.

West Midlands Police and a crew from Fallings Park Fire Station's green watch attended the scene at Lichfield Road, New Invention.

The crew, who were called at 9.26am by the police, made the area safe before calling for a specialist engineer from Highways England to attend.

They had left the scene by 10am.

A fire service spokeswoman said: "We got the call at 9.26am from the police. The incident involed an electrical cable by a bridge which had been cut.

"One crew from Fallings Park attended. They cordoned the area off and called for an engineer from Highways England.

"They left the scene at 9.53am."
