WATCH: Tree comes down in heavy winds near Walsall's Bescot Stadium

A tree was blown across a road near to the Bescot Stadium in Walsall in the heavy winds which have hit the West Midlands today.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow warning for wind for today with winds of up to 50mph possible.

West Midlands Police confirmed that they received a call at 12.50pm to reports of a tree blocking part of Bescot Crescent, near to the stadium where the Saddlers were playing Charlton in League One.

"There were concerns about the effect on traffic because of the nearby football match," a spokesman said.

"The council was contacted and tree surgeons had arrived by 1.50pm."

No one was injured.
