Man killed after being struck by train near Tame Bridge Parkway Station in West Bromwich

A man has died after being struck by a train close to Tame Bridge Parkway Station in West Bromwich.

The incident happened at the Charlemont level crossing around 7.50am today near the station off Walsall Road.

The train service affected was between Rugeley Town and Birmingham New Street.

All train lines were blocked through the station while emergency services were at the scene.

Trains are now running through the station after the earlier incident.

But delays are expected to remain this morning.

Tickets had been accepted on National Express Buses between Walsall and Birmingham.

Passengers on trains at the station were being taken back to the platforms.

British Transport Police spokeswoman Sarah Buxton said: "Officers from BTP attended alongside local ambulance and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Officers are working to identify the man and inform his family.

"This incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
