Part of the shopping centre was evacuated on Saturday after the man, believed to be in his 40s, fell from the third floor of the building, outside Debenhams, at about 4pm.

A police incident tent was erected where the man fell. Police today said the man was in a critical but stable condition.

A Bullring spokesman said yesterday: "We can confirm there was an incident at the centre this afternoon.

"Medical assistance was called immediately and the male in question has been taken to hospital by the emergency services for further medical attention."

It is understood that the shopping centre later reopened to the public.

Witnesses took to social media to describe what they saw, with many disgusted that people were tweeting pictures from the scene.
