Garage left gutted after tumble dryer blaze at West Bromwich home

A garage has been left  completely gutted by a severe fire caused by a tumble dryer.

Fire crews were called to the blaze on Whitgreave Street, West Bromwich, on Sunday night following a 999 call at around 9.03pm.

West Midlands Fire Service spokesman Neil Spencer said: "This was a severe fire in a brick built garage.

"A hose reel jet was deployed and the fire had been put out around 9.24pm.

"The fire had been caused after a tumble dryer caught fire.

"The stop message came through around 10.06pm and the garage was left with 90 per cent damage."

Crews from West Bromwich Fire Station took pictures from the scene which showed the extent of the damage.

Mounds of burnt out items were seen lying across the front of the garage.

Areas of the brick work were stained black from the damage caused by the fire.
