IN VIDEO and PICTURES: Search for driver as car smashes into Tividale home leading to evacuations

A search is underway in Tividale to find the driver of a car which smashed into a house in Tividale, causing several homes to be evacuated.

The crash which happened in Barnett Street shortly after 3.50pm this afternoon, has blocked the road between Tividale Road and Walford Street.

Crews from Tipton and Dudley Fire Stations are on the scene helping to shore up as the building is unstable.

A woman was in a back room at the time of the crash and is said to have been 'shaken up' by the ordeal, but no injuries have been reported.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "An area search is being carried out to find the occupant of the car to make sure he is ok."

A West Midlands Fire Service control spokesman added: "We were called to reports of a car in collision with a house.

"Our technical rescue teams are on route as the building is unstable.

"We have also requested a structural engineer to attend as well.

"Cordons have been put up and crews are just waiting for the technical rescue teams to arrive."

Crews remain at the scene and are making the house secure.
