PICTURED: Firefighters tackle car blaze in Wolverhampton city centre car park

A car caught fire in a Wolverhampton city centre car park earlier today.

West Midlands Fire Service received a 999 call at 9.53am this morning after reports of a car fire in Fold Street car park.

They dispatched one fire engine and a brigade response vehicle, both from Wolverhampton fire station.

Firefighters said the fire was in the engine compartment of the car and they used one hose reel to put it out.

No one was in the car and no one was injured.

Neil Spencer, a spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service, said: "We received a 999 call at 9.53 reporting a car fire. We sent a fire engine and a brigade response vehicle, both from Wolverhampton.

"This incident involves a fire in the engine compartment. One hose reel was used."
