It had been travelling towards Wombourne. No other cars were involved in the incident.

The male driver, who was travelling alone at the time, had extricated himself from the car by the time fire crews from Dudley arrived at the scene.

He was checked over by paramedics and taken to hospital by ambulance. No one else was involved in the smash.

Highways workers attended the scene and removed the car, which had sustained extensive damage to the passenger side chassis, as well as a smashed windscreen.
