Elderly man rescued from severe flat fire in Smethwick
An elderly man was rescued as a severe fire ripped through his flat in the Black Country this morning.

Thirteen firefighters tackled the blaze in Astbury Avenue, Smethwick, which started at around 11.30am.
West Midlands Fire Service tweeted this image from the scene:
The occupant received emergency treatment from paramedics after being helped from the property.
Another woman was led to safety.
