A boy has been seriously injured after being hit by a car on a busy road in Walsall.
The eight-year-old collided with the car on West Bromwich Road in the Broadway area of the town on Saturday.
He suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a child that had been in collision with a car.
“The boy had suffered serious leg injuries and received emergency treatment including pain relief from the medics at the scene.
“The boy's injuries were stabilised and he was transferred by land ambulance to Birmingham Childrens Hospital for further treatment."
The road was closed, with football fans travelling to the Banks's Stadium for today's match between Walsall and Coventry told to seek alternative routes, but later reopened.
Inspector Les Dow, from Walsall Police, said: “Police were called at 11.25am to reports that a car had collided with a child in Broadway, Walsall.
“Anyone who witnessed the collision should contact officers on 101."
