A man died at the wheel of his car on a Black Country road.
He was discovered after the vehicle he was in crashed into a lamp post on Kitchen Lane in Wednesfield.
It is understood that the man, who is local and aged 51, may have become ill while driving a red Kia car, which then rolled into the lamp post.
The smash happened at around 9.30am on Wednesday on the bend between Phillips Avenue and Clare Avenue.
Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service and a crew from the Midlands Air Ambulance arrived shortly afterwards, but despite performing emergency life support, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suzie Fothergill, spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "Crews arrived at the scene to find a single vehicle that had been in collision with a lamp post.
"Crews commenced advanced life support at the scene but unfortunately nothing could be done to save the man."
Deb Edmonds, spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "While the investigation is in the very early stages, initial enquiries suggest that the driver became unwell while driving the car and then crashed."
Anyone who saw the collision or the car in the area in the moments leading up to the crash should call police on 101.
