Black smoke fills sky in large Wolverhampton tyre fire

A large blaze took hold in Wolverhampton this afternoon when 200 tyres caught fire.

The waste tyres - in a street off Prosser Street, Bilston - caused huge flumes of black smoke to fill the sky around south east Wolverhampton.

Fire crews sent three appliances to the scene from Bilston, Wednesbury and Tipton.

West Midlands Fire Service warned people to avoid the area.
