Road is shut off following smash in Wolverhampton
A man and a woman were taken to hospital after a rush hour smash in the Black Country.
Newhampton Road West in the Whitmore Reans area of Wolverhampton was shut off to motorists while firefighters rescued the pair from their vehicles in the wake of the crash which happened shortly after 5pm last night.
Both the vehicles involved – a Ford Focus and a Rover – were left in the middle of the road after the smash.
The woman driver of the Rover had to be freed from her car by firefighters and was taken to hospital believed to be suffering from neck and back injuries.
The Ford Focus driver was also suffering from neck pain and was taken to hospital after being removed from his vehicle on a stretcher. Neither were thought to have suffered serious injury.
Meanwhile in Dudley two women and a baby were lucky to escape without injury after a crash in the town centre.
Two crews from Dudley fire station were called to the two-car crash involving a white Vauxhall and a red Renault on King Street about 1.20pm yesterday.
