Woman and pets saved from Dudley house blaze

A woman and her two pets were rescued from a house fire today after a milkman raised the alarm.

The blaze started in the ground floor of the property in Dudley at around 2.20am.

A passing milkman spotted smoke coming from the house on Edenbridge View on the Milking Bank estate and called the emergency services.

Crews from Dudley, Brierley Hill and Tipton used breathing apparatus to enter the semi-detached property. They helped a woman, in her 50s, who was suffering from smoke inhalation, out of the house.

She was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

Her small collie dog and her rabbit were also rescued.
