Walsall collision leaves passenger with serious injuries

A man suffered a serious head injury today after a car left the road and collided with a lamp post and garden wall in Walsall.

The smash involving a silver Golf happened along West Bromwich Road, near to Walstead Road, Delves, at around 2am.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were sent to the scene with a 29-year-old man taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The road was closed in both directions by police following the accident.

But it was open to traffic ahead of the rush-hour.

The man is believed to be the passenger in the car was described as being in a serious condition. Officers are trying to trace the driver.

No other vehicles are thought to have been involved in the collision on the main route between Walsall and West Bromwich.
