A group of men opened fire with shotguns and a handgun at a house in Finnemore Road, in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, just after midnight this morning.

Windows were shot through at the address, before the offenders made off from the scene. The house was occupied at the time, with children inside, but no-one was hurt.

Detectives have seized CCTV and are continuing an extended CCTV and roads camera trawl in a bid to identify the offenders.

A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "This is a shocking incident. We believe around 10 shots in total may have been fired at the address.

"There were children inside but luckily no-one was hurt. But we could easily have been looking at casualties from this outrageous act.

"Our investigation is well underway and we have recovered ballistic material from the scene.

"If anyone saw what happened, or saw the offenders making off from the scene, then i would urge them to contact us in confidence."

Anyone with information is urged to call West Midlands Police on 101. Alternatively, witnesses can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
