Paul Younger has been remanded in custody after admitting being responsible for the damage at the Wrottesley Arms pub and Sainsbury's supermarket in Perton.

Younger, 37, of Wordsworth Avenue, in Perton, pleaded guilty to causing £58,000 worth of damage to 27 windows and two cash machines at the supermarket on March 30.

He also admitted causing £5,000 worth of damage to six windows at the pub, off Severn Drive, on Friday.

Sainsbury's was forced to temporarily close after all the windows at the front of the store were smashed, meaning NHS workers were unable to use the shop during the usual dedicated hour.

The week before, Staffordshire Police launched an investigation after the same store's two cash machines were vandalised and smashed.

And on Friday windows at the Wrottesley Arms, which is currently closed amid the Covid-19 lockdown, were smashed with a weapon.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Younger pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal damage at North Staffordshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday and has been remanded until his next crown court appearance on a date to be set."
